PAS candidate Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut won the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat, defeating Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh by 2,631 votes.

Mohd Abdul Wahid garnered 32,883 votes while Wan Ahmad Farid had 30,252 votes. Independent candidate Azharudin Mamat had 193 votes and lost his deposit.

With this win, the Opposition now has 82 seats in the Dewan Rakyat, of which belong to PAS.Barisan, which held the seat before the previous MP Datuk Razali Ismail died last month triggering the by-election, now has 137 seats. There are also three Independent MPs.

Kemenangan ini juga amat bermakna buat semua ahli Pas di seluruh negara, dan paling manis adalah kepada ahli Pas di Terengganu kerana sudah sekian lama Pas tidak memenangi Pilihan Raya di Terengganu semenjak 2003.
